Can The Stafford change the Interest Rate?

The Stafford Building Society has the right to change interest rates in certain circumstances. If we change the rates we will give you 14 days’ notice. Please refer to the savings terms and conditions for further information on these circumstances.

How do I open and manage my account?

  • Available to Not-For-Profit organisations based in England and Wales.
  • The account can be opened in branch or by post.
  • This is a passbook-based account and can be operated in branch or by post at your own expense.
  • Limits apply to cash deposits and withdrawals (see savings terms and conditions).
  • Save from a minimum of £5,000 up to a maximum of £1,000,000.
  • Organisations can hold a maximum of one Community Triple Access Saver account with the Society.
  • A 14-day cooling-off period applies to this account. This means that if you change your mind, you have 14 calendar days to close the account without notice, charges or loss of interest. Day one begins on the date the account is opened.

Can I withdraw money?

  • This account allows a maximum of three withdrawals per society year (1st November to 31st October). Once you have made the third withdrawal, no further withdrawals will be allowed until the new society year.
  • Cash withdrawals/closures are limited to £2,500 per day.
  • No notice is required for cash withdrawals/closures up to £500. However, withdrawals/closures between £500 and £2,500 require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
  • Withdrawals/closures can be made by post (cheque only) and must include:
    • A signed letter requesting the amount, or
    • A completed closure form.
  • Cheques will only be made payable to the account holder(s).
  • Faster Payments can be made to a nominated UK bank account in the organisation’s name free of charge. The maximum withdrawal amount via Faster Payment is £75,000.
  • The minimum CHAPS withdrawal is £5,000 and incurs a £25 administrative fee.
  • The minimum withdrawal allowed by cheque is £10.
  • Withdrawals can be made in branch with the passbook. Withdrawals will not be allowed without the passbook.

Additional Information

  • The Society pays all savings interest gross, with no tax deducted. Organisations are responsible for paying any tax due based on their circumstances. Tax rules may change in the future.
  • Organisation savings may be eligible for FSCS protection under the FSCS compensation scheme. Limits and exemptions apply depending on the business’s circumstances.
