Yes, the interest rate is variable, so it can go up or down.

How do I open and manage my account?

  • The account can be opened ONLY online. This account cannot be operated in branch or postally.
  • This is a passbook-free account. You can view your balance at any time via the online portal.
  • Available to private, UK residents only.
  • Limits apply to cash deposits and withdrawals (see Savings Terms and Conditions).
  • You can save from £5,000.
  • Save up to a maximum of £450,000.

Can I withdraw money?

  • Withdrawals or account closures require 90 days’ notice. You must submit your notice via the online portal messaging service. A member of our Savings Team will confirm the date on which your withdrawal will be processed.
  • Our online E-Saver account allows Faster Payments and CHAPS withdrawals to a registered nominated bank account in the name of the account holder(s).
  • Cheque and cash withdrawals are not permitted due to the special conditions of this product.
  • Faster Payments are limited to a maximum of £75,000.
  • Please note: It may take up to one working day for the funds to appear in your nominated bank account.
  • For withdrawals over £75,000, a CHAPS transfer can be requested, subject to 90 days’ notice and a £25 administration fee.
  • This account allows a maximum of four withdrawals per Society year ( 1st November to 31st October).

  • You may hold a maximum of one individual and one joint account of this type with The Stafford Building Society.
  • We pay all savings interest gross – no tax is deducted. You are responsible for paying any tax due based on your individual circumstances. Tax rules may change in the future.
  • If the General Savings Terms and Conditions differ from your Account Specific Terms, the terms for your account will take priority.
  • The maximum combined deposit across all accounts with The Stafford Building Society is £450,000 per customer.
  • It’s worth noting that any of our accounts can be withdrawn from sale at any time and without notice.
  • Your savings are protected up to £120,000 per eligible person with the FSCS compensation scheme.
