During a period throughout February and early March, Stafford Railway Building Society was the subject of a cyber activity. The Society has launched a thorough investigation following a breach of the Society’s email system and access was disabled as soon as it was detected.
The targeted attack has seen some emails sent to our system being unlawfully accessed by an unknown and unauthorised third party. Some of the communications contained members’ personal or sensitive information.
All members affected have been notified by post, and the Society is working alongside Experian to offer members advice and support. We have also provided information and advice to all members on precautionary steps to protect their data, including changing passwords.
All affected members have been asked to contact a dedicated Experian telephone number provided to them. If your clients have any additional questions, please direct them to question and answers available on our website.
We are taking this event extremely seriously and are continuing to work closely with all relevant authorities, the Police and IT experts.
If you are communicating with the Society by email, and this contains any form of customer, personal or sensitive data, please password protect all files before sending and communicate your password by alternative means.
We are extremely sorry this incident has occurred and apologise for any inconvenience it may cause yourself or your clients.
